Hailstorm, Heavy rains in Delhi-NCR
NEW DELHI: Noida, near Delhi, looked like a snowy town on Thursday evening as the roads and highways were covered in hailstones. It was after nearly a decade that Delhi and neighbouring areas saw such heavy hailstorm that accompanied the evening rain.
Residents and commuters, marveled at the unusual occurrence, went into a tizzy on social media posting pictures and videos of the "winter wonderland".
Busy roads, traffic intersections and apartments in Noida's Sector 93, Sector 137 and Yamuna Expressway were among the hailstone-covered areas.
The minimum temperature in Delhi settled at 15 degrees on Thursday, six notches above the season's average and the maximum temperature was recorded at 19.1 degrees, four notches below the season's average.
Twenty-three domestic and nine international flights were diverted out of Delhi due to the bad weather, news agency ANI reported.#delhi #hailstorm #rain
